The Millennium Green was donated to the village by Robin Robertson-Glasgow in 2000.  It includes an open recreation area, a Play Area (with a basket ball net), goal posts, a flag pole and cycle obstacles. It has wheelchair access to the High Street and a parking area on the Cricket Club car park. Any suggestions or complaints about the Millenium Green should be made by means of the Contact page on this web site. As some of you may have noticed, there are some new things at the Play Area. We are pleased to have installed a low rotator on safety wetpour surface. This works like a roundabout, by pushing your body back and forwards slowly into the centre (for those of you having trouble making it go around!!). Also a hopscotch and some "shooting stars" painted on the basketball court. Each coloured star has a number on it and that is the score you receive for hooping a basket from that position. We hope the younger members of the village will enjoy these (although I have to be honest and say I've had a go!!), along with any visitors. Thank you all for your support over the years, without which, none of the above could have finally happened. On behalf of the Play Area Management Committee, enjoy.

SUNDAY MAY 6 th   The weather and venue were perfect for this year's Boules event in Hinton Charterhouse. With nearly a full entry of 28 teams and with last year's winners and top seeds unable to take part, the keenly fought Cup Competition was won by “Paige6”.  The Plate Competition was run by “Chicken winner dinner” (Pigeon family) which lasted until way past 7.30!!.   The benefitting organisations are keen to thank the Cricket Club bar staff (Katie and Hugh) and the Stag Inn team (Chris, Toby, Theo, Harley and Eve) for their fabulous help.  A huge thanks also to Tom Tippets who worked so hard in the blazing sun to mark out all the Boules rinks and Isla Tuck for taking the money.. But the hero of the hour was Nick Helps, saving the BBQ.  Half the main BBQ wouldn’t work so during the Boules Nick dashed back home and bought his own BBQ over and then helped cook for the rest of the afternoon. Fantastic!  It is team sprit like this which makes these occasions work.   Without The Stag Inn and Martin Warman’s amazing generosity the Millennium Green wouldn’t have made the terrific profit of £460.   Thank you for attending and supporting our fund raiser and I hope you all had fun!   Christina Pearce Millennium Green Committee   Cup Winners “Paige6”
