St John’s Church
St John’s Church is part of a United Parish with St Peter’s Freshford and St Mary’s Limpley Stoke. For more information on the Parish, please visit the Parish website.
Our Church St John’s Church has a seating capacity of approximately 160 people and is set in a beautifully maintained churchyard on the outskirts of the village. The tower contains a carillon of three bells. There is a dedicated space at the back of the church for small children during services, as well as facilities for refreshments, a toilet, and disabled access.

St John’s Church is a popular venue for weddings due to its picturesque setting and good facilities.

Friends of St John
The Friends of St John is an organisation that brings together those in the local community who are interested in maintaining this ancient church and wish to help raise money for this purpose. The Friends Committee’s chairman is Elizabeth Wordsworth.
The Friends Committee runs its own program of events (see diary of events) and decides how the raised funds are to be used.
Tea and Chat
Join us for Tea and Chat on Wednesday afternoons at the OLD BAKERY from 2.30 to 4.30 pm. Everyone is welcome.
Rewilding Churchyard
In an effort to create a haven for nature, we have decided to let part of St John’s churchyard grow wild. This initiative follows the Bath and Wells Diocese’s “Wilder Churches” scheme, which is a partnership with the Somerset Wildlife Trust to support communities in creating better habitats for wildlife in their local churchyards.
Ladies Walking Group
The Ladies Walking Group is a friendly group that meets monthly on Wednesdays at 9.30 am for walks of 4-7 miles with an optional lunch. The next walks are scheduled for May 11th and June 8th.
